- 3 tbsp groundnuts
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp desiccated coconut
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
- Curry -
- 4 tbsp oil
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp hing /asafoetida
- 10-12 curry leaves
- 2 onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 2 tsp red chilli powder
- 3 tsp cumin coriander powder
- 2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 3 tomatoes finely chopped
- 5 drumsticks cut into 3 inch pieces
- 2 cup water
- 2 tbsp coriander leaves
Instructions to make to make Drumstick Curry (Andhra style)
- Add groundnuts to a pan and start roasting it. When it is half done, add sesame seeds, desiccated coconut and poppy seeds to it and roast everything on low heat. Let it cool down.
- Add all the roasted things in a mixer jar and grind it. Now add half cup of water and grind it again to make a smooth paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it crackles add cumin, hing and curry leaves. Now add finely chopped onion to it and saute until pink in colour. Now add ginger and garlic paste to it and cook for half a minute. Add turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, cumin coriander powder and garam masala to it. Mix and cook on medium heat for a minute.
- Now add finely chopped tomatoes to it and mix everything well. Cook it until tomatos are soft and it starts releasing oil. Now add prepared spice paste to it and mix it well. Cook it on medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Now add drumstick pieces to the curry and cook it for 2 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and mix everything well. Cover it with a lid.
- Cook it covered until drumsticks are cooked properly. Add coriander leaves and turn off the heat. You can keep the consistency of the curry according to your liking. Add more or less water accordingly.
- Serve drumstick curry with roti, paratha or rice.
