  2. 1 large potato
  3. 1 onion
  4. 1 tomato (pureed)
  5. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  6. 1-2 fresh green chillies
  7. to taste Salt
  8. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  10. 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
  11. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  12. 1 tsp curry powder
  13. 1 pinch sugar
  14. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  15. As needed Coriander leaves
  16. 15 ml oil

Instructions to make to make Ghooguni (Spicy White peas curry)

  1. Soak dry white peas in water overnight.
    Next pressure cook the soaked peas and peeled potato with salt and turmeric powder in water for 2 whistles.
    Keep aside.
    Next heat a kadhai with oil.
    Splutter cumin seeds.
    Add chopped onion,saute.
    Next add ginger garlic paste. Saute till the rawness is lost.
  2. Next in a blender jar put tomato and fresh green chillies. Make a puree.
    Add this puree into the sauteed onion. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and curry powder. Mix and cook till masala leaves oil. In order to prevent masala from burning, add water of the boiled peas instead of adding normal water.
  3. As masala is cooked, add coriander powder and cumin powder and sugar. Mix.
    Next add the boiled matar and potato. Mix gently. If required add water.
    Next add chopped coriander leaves.
  4. Mix and cook till required consistency.

    Serve it as an accompaniment with poori/ paratha/ dahi bada/ chakuli / idli/ dosa
